Visioneers (Jared Drake, 2008): USA

Screened at the AFI Film Festival, Visioneers was everything expected of it in regards to big corporations and how they run people’s lives in the wold. The film is interesting and pretty hilarious if your in the mood for a somewhat similar take on The Office. It has reference towards the corporate life and this makes the film easily relatable for 9 to 5ers.

The Jefferson Company is where George Washington, the main character, works. The films begins by taking the audience through a minute-by-minute description and show of how the employees work for this company. The beginning shows a room with four office desks circulating the room and face  one another for more of a personal touch to work day. Each minute is counted down in regards to how close the workers are to the weekend. The symbol for the company makes the film all the more hilarious, being the middle finger, as a greeting, reminder and message of the company. The whole idea of the plot in the film is not to explode working for the major corporation.

The best part of the film is the acting because it uses a technique thats non chalant and sarcastic, specifically target towards the way they all feel about the meaning of life and working long shifts for a company they don’t exactly believe in or are behind.

If you want to see a similar take on views of society and work life, refer to The Office, starring Steve Carrell, on the TBS network.

If you’re one to work on level three in your building and feel like a tunt half of the time you’re there at work, I suggest seeing this film and enjoying all of the funny moments, and real-life take on work in America.
