They grow up and get married. They live a lovely life together until Ellie passes away from old age. Carl becomes a grumpy old man and often calls out her name in an attempt to talk to her. The only things that he values anymore become his house and an old scrapbook that Ellie made before they ever met. The house and the scrapbook, interesting to say, are what end up propelling him to go on many other types of adventures and live his life with a heart full of warmth.

I really enjoyed this film because it is an fantastic animated sentimental expression of what a loving relationship can be like in a make believe world. Anyone who has ever fallen in love and has a sense of adventure will surely enjoy viewing Up.

Reviewed by Paula Gomez.
